The Migrant Media Network is hosting a training of Trainers workshop from August 27th - 29th 2021 in Berlin to bring together diaspora participants from the Ghanian and Gambian Diaspora community to discuss the impact of social media on migration.
#MMN provides young Africans with reliable information and training on migration issues and social media, thereby helping individuals make informed decisions regarding migration and, if they choose to migrate, allowing them to be aware of safer, legal migration options.
#MMN also promotes engagement, education, and entrepreneurship at home as a way to strengthen economic and social resilience. Our trainings help youth think through potential business ideas and learn about job and educational opportunities in their region.
Members of the Ghanaian and Gambian diaspora in Berlin are trained and involved in the development of online and offline materials used to conduct workshops in rural regions of Ghana and The Gambia. These workshops address questions of migration, human smuggling, the ethical use of social media, and opportunities for work, starting businesses, and education in their country of origin.
Aiming to create a sustainable and growing network of trainers in rural areas, community influencers are enlisted to amplify the training and offline materials are distributed to community leaders in strategic points, such as schools and churches.
If you belong to the Ghanian or Gambian diaspora and are interested, join us!
