Community Outreach and Activities Coordinator
FemPeaceEA: Strengthening the digital and collective care capacity of feminist women-led grassroots organizations for East African peacebuilding.
We’re currently looking to fill the role of the Community Outreach and Activities Coordinator for our East African Feminist Peace Network Project.
The project aims to strengthen grassroots feminist organizations in East Africa (Ethiopia, Kenya, South Sudan, and Uganda) through capacity and network building to enhance women’s full and meaningful participation in conflict prevention and peacebuilding processes.
The person we are looking for has to have worked in the african feminist spaces before, has to identify as feminist and be based in Tigray, Ethiopia where we implement the FemPeaceEA Network Project, funded by the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development.
Requisite skills
- Have excellent time management and communication skills, as you’ll collaborate with feminist organisations and internal teams to deliver results as planned .
- Be self-driven and diligent in your roles.
- Be fluent in English (written and spoken).
- Must be fluent in Tigrinya (written and spoken).
- Must be based in Mekelle, Tigray Region
- Have a university degree and analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Have at least 3 years working experience in a context related to the task specifically in social work, social justice, peacebuilding and human rights.
As the Community Outreach and Activities Coordinator, you will work closely with our FemPeaceEA team in Uganda and the partner feminist organisations in Tigray to prepare comprehensive action plans on the implementation of the project. You will perform various coordinating tasks and administrative duties.
Main Tasks
- Support workshop coordination and participant feminist organisation mobilisation in Ethiopia.
- Provide necessary support for onsite project activities coordination and implementation in Ethiopia (capacity-building training, small gatherings/workshops, events, mentorship/peer-to-peer mentorship, on-the-ground advocacy/campaigns/storytelling). This requires attending the organised event in person as well.
- Responsible for ensuring all required documentation promptly obtained for the project activities implemented by the project participants organizations and Implementing partners (eg. collecting pre and post-questionnaires, and other feedback forms)
- Active and effective communication and coordination with the project participant organizations in Ethiopia.
- Prepare brief narrative reports on the project activities in Ethiopia (capacity-building training, small gatherings/workshops, events, mentorship/peer-to-peer mentorship, on-the-ground advocacy/campaigns/storytelling).
- Support the project logistical and financial oversight in Ethiopia ( procurement, local financial regulations advice, collecting original financial receipts from the project participant organization, implementing partners and service providers).
- Communicate and coordinate with the project team in Uganda throughout the contract duration.
- Social media content translation from Tigrinya language to English.
- Conduct other duties that may be required for project implementation as directed by the FemPeaceEA project manager and community outreach coordinator.
