CALL: EVALUATOR – AFRICAN FEMINIST

FemPeaceEA is seeking an African feminist expert to conduct a preliminary evaluation of its programmes under the East African Feminist Peace Network Project. This will be a short-term, task-based contract. We only accept applications from Womxn. 

Timeline

  • Application Deadline: May 11, 2026
  • Evaluation Start Date: June 2026
  • Assignment Period: June – July 2026

Profile Required

The evaluator must:

  • Identify as an African feminist and have work experience collaborating with grassroots feminist formal and information organizations and/or movements in East Africa (preferably Kenya, Uganda and Ethiopia).
  • Strong ability to communicate, collaborate, and deliver tasks effectively in online environments.

Technical Skills
Evaluators should possess the following technical skills:

  • Evaluation Methods: Knowledge of various evaluation approaches, including formative and summative evaluations.
  • Project Management: Ability to plan, execute, and oversee evaluation projects efficiently.
  • Writing Skills: Proficiency in writing clear and concise evaluation reports that communicate findings effectively.
  • Research Skills: Competence in both qualitative and quantitative research methods to gather and analyze data.

Soft Skills

In addition to technical skills, evaluators must have strong soft skills, including:

  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify issues and develop practical solutions during the evaluation process.
  • Relationship Management: Skills to build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders and participants.
  • Curiosity: A strong desire to ask questions and explore underlying issues, which can lead to deeper insights.

Contextual Understanding

Evaluators should also have a solid understanding of the specific context in which they are working. This includes:

  • Knowledge of Relevant Fields: Familiarity with the subject matter, including trends and challenges in the area being evaluated.
  • Cultural Competence: Sensitivity to cultural differences and the ability to engage with diverse populations effectively.

Deliverables

  • Inception note and evaluation approach
  • Data collection tools
  • Summary of preliminary findings and evaluation report with recommendations
  • Key insights to inform FemPeaceEA programs, content and framing

As an Evaluator, you will work closely with our FemPeaceEA team in Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia  and Berlin. 

This is a time-limited task-oriented engagement starting in June 2026 (1-month evaluation).
